owls

Jesse and I got in to the holiday art fair, so I've begun doing drawings to possibly make cards or prints of.

Here is a little one of a bunch of wise owls up in a thousand year old tree.

SCX REVIEWED!

Wowza! Justin Giampoli from Poopsheet Foundation made a really nice review of the Secret Comix first issue!

"Kira Mardikes’ very fine lines and effervescent figures are rich with detail; they remind me of Kevin O’Neill’s thin angular style. She particularly captures the loud conflagration and clashing of multiple personalities in the diner sequence well. The varied demographics are a representative hub of the characters you can meet in life within a single neutral place, with some of the people lost in their own thought. All of the participants are unaware of the other parties and not privy to their entire thought process. I enjoyed the notion of a blind secret rendezvous and how the characters seemed to be searching for human connection in a big city, not retreating into isolation. It had a similar feel to one of the themes in the Paul Haggis film Crash. This was really engrossing and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. More information can be found at: www.secretcomix.com. Grade A."

Thank you Justin and Rick Bradford!
